So, after the success of my dinosaur cartoon cover for Jester magazine, I thought I’d revisit the idea of some more dinosaur cartoons.
I’ve been scribbling away at a couple of dinosaur sketches, with the view of maybe starting a collection of them.
Of course, the hardest part about these dinosaur sketches is deciding which of the many hundreds of them to choose from?
So for starters, we’ve already a Tyrannosaurus Rex (as he’s the king, right?), so thought I’d follow this up with one of my all time favourites – the Stegosaurus!
Stegosaurus
Always fascinated me that he could have such an incredible size, yet only a walnut sized brain (but then there are people running this country with a similar construction…).
So naturally my sketch has an oversized body and a tiny little head, plus an array of plates running down his back, ending in a spiky tail.
Dimetrodon
Ok, so not strictly a dinosaur, but a prehistoric creature none the less.
This one always stood out to me also, due to the enormous sail on it’s back, apparently to help regulate his temperature.
Dimetrodon also had a large head in comparison to his body size, so that allowed for quite a goofy expression too!
I’ve also gone for quite a squat stance, with four legs ending in some very sharp claws!
